The Best Story Wins

You are the author. Start writing the story you actually want to live.

I’ve been thinking about movies lately.

Not just watching them—but really thinking about them.

Why do the characters we love always go through hell? Why does every episode of a show include something unexpected—a challenge, a mistake, a lesson?

Why do the good guys lose so much? And why do the bad guys sometimes turn around in the end?

Because if they didn’t… it would be boring. You wouldn’t care. There would be no story.

Your Life Is a Story—And You’re Writing It

Here’s the truth most people forget:

You are the author.

Not your boss.

Not your parents.

Not your past.

You.

And just like every good movie, your story needs conflict. It needs friction. It needs that moment where you almost give up—but don’t.

Because that’s what makes the next chapter powerful.

A few years ago, I thought about staying at my job forever—just because it felt like the "right" thing to do. I didn’t want to disrupt my life. I didn’t want discomfort.

But when I zoomed out and looked at my life like a movie, I realized:

We all grow through uncomfortable moments, just like the main character in every film.

That realization showed me something hard to admit:

I wasn’t building my life—I was just living one.

I had lost all interest in my job.

And in anything I did there.

So I made the decision to leave.

Not with some dramatic quitting story. I didn’t yell, I didn’t burn bridges.

I just told my boss the truth:

“I’ve lost interest. I want to take my life in a different direction. I can’t fake it anymore.”

They understood. We shook hands. It ended with respect—not resentment.

Sometimes, things don’t have to burn to be over. And I’m past the age where I let ego lead.

Now I lead with reason.

Ego and emotion sit in the back seat.

Imagine a Movie With No Struggle

Picture watching a film where the main character:

  • Never takes a risk

  • Avoids every confrontation

  • Never fails

  • Doesn’t evolve

You’d turn it off in 20 minutes.

That’s what a lot of people are doing with their lives—they’re living a story that’s flat. Safe. Predictable.

And worst of all? It’s not even their story.

They’re playing a role someone else wrote for them.

Your Plot Twist Starts Now

I remember when I hit my first “low” point.

I felt stuck. Exhausted. Going through the motions.

I knew I wanted something more but didn’t know where to start.

So I stayed in that loop for a while.

Until one day it hit me—The reason I felt lost wasn’t because I had no direction.

It was because I was waiting for someone to write the next scene for me.

But no one’s coming.

No one is handing you the script.

You get to write it.

What Makes a Great Story?

Every great story has five things:

  1. A main character who wants something

  2. A challenge standing in their way

  3. A moment where they almost quit

  4. A shift in mindset or action

  5. A new path forward

That’s your life. That’s you.

Right now, you might be somewhere between steps 2 and 3. That’s okay.

That’s where the growth happens.

But don’t stop there. The story only gets good when you decide to turn the page.

And sure you may have a low point here and there but remember that doesn't define the whole movie. It's a moment in your life, you bounce back and move on.

Rewrite the Script

If your story right now feels stuck, try this:

  • Write down the life you actually want.

  • Get honest about what’s in your way.

  • Stop trying to erase the past—and start using it as material.

  • Take one step that aligns with the person you want to become.

Even the best stories start with a blank page.

Final Thought

The reason we love movies and shows isn’t just for entertainment.

It’s because they show us what’s possible. They remind us that pain has a purpose, that mistakes can lead to meaning, and that the best stories always come from the people who don’t quit.

Don't quit on life, don't quit on the adventure, don't let it just be some flat, safe, boring story.

So whatever chapter you’re in right now—Own it. Write it. Live it.

Because the best story wins.
